Dance Experience: Katie began dancing at the age of three at Ellen’s School of Dance in Louisville, Ky. Throughout her 18 years of dance experience she has danced at several studios including Ellen’s School of Dance, Michael Thomas Dance Center, Planet Dance, and 360 Dance. She was also a part of the Barret Traditional Middle School Dance Team from 2000-2003, Planet Dance Junior All-Stars from 2002-2003, and 360 Dance All-Stars from 2003-2007 winning a National Championship in 2007 at UDA Nationals and was a runner-up at the 2007 Dance Worlds. Katie Graduated from the Youth Performing Arts School in 2007 as a Dance Major with a Musical Theatre Minor. Katie Attended WKU from 2007-2008 and danced on the Western Kentucky University’s Dance Team as a Topperette. From 2008-2009 Katie danced for the EIGHT time National Champion Ladybirds and won a National Championship in April of 2009. Katie is currently teaching at Dreamz Dance Company in Louisville, Ky.
School: Katie graduated from duPont Manual High School and the Youth Performing Arts School in 2007. She is currently attending Paul Mitchell the school Louisville.
Personal: Katie is so excited to be a Lightning Lady! Dancing has always come naturally to her and she is so excited to showcase her abilities. When Katie isn’t dancing she can usually be found spending time with her family and friends or working. She is an only child, but has some great friends that she considers her family. She resides in Louisville, Ky and is the daughter of Jan and John Eklund, Katie plans on becoming a cosmetologist and wants to work at a salon on the west coast!

Most memorable experience in your dance career? Winning the 2009 NDA Collegiate National Championship with the University of Louisville Ladybirds with a score of 9.750.
