Last Saturday, June 18, the Louisville Lightning teamed up with 3v3 Live and the 2010 Lyndon Area Fair to host their first annual 3v3 tournament at Robsion Park in Lyndon, KY. With over 40 youth boys and girls teams competing, the crowd was immense and there was lots of great soccer all day long. In spite of the strong thunderstorms from the night before, all games went on as scheduled. Luckily, as the day progressed so did the weather. The rain went away around the start of the first games and it turned out to be a perfect day for a soccer tournament.
Throughout the day, families enjoyed a combination of soccer and activities at the fair grounds. Members of the Louisville Lightning Pro team were on hand as well, serving as referees and late day entertainment. Some of the Lightning’s top players, including Simon Bird, Safet Kovacevic, and Lee Weyland entertained the crowd with a 3v3 game of their own following the youth playoffs. The day’s activities climaxed with fireworks over the soccer fields in the evening.
The Lightning would like to thank everyone who came out to participate in their very first 3v3 Live tournament and congratulate the winners from each division (listed below). The top teams in each division will travel to the National 3v3 Live Tournament to be held near King’s Island in Cincinnati, OH on August 7-8, 2010.
