The Lightning is proud to have Coach Wolz as part of its staff and would like to wish good luck to him and the St. Catharine’s team. We caught up with Coach Wolz to ask him a few questions about the Lightning and his new job.

How do you think what you’ve learned with the Lightning can be brought to St. Catharine’s?

The thing that I really want to bring to St. Catharine’s is the attitude and professionalism. Be it in practice, training, or games we go full speed all the time and keep score, and there are consequences if you don’t perform. Everything we do is competitive and I feel like we are a better team for it. So the real big thing I’m trying to bring to St. Catharine’s is the attitude and competiveness we have achieved with the Lightning.

Do you think it will be a tough transition from the indoor game of the Lightning to the outdoor game of St. Catharine’s?

Actually it was the other way around to tell you the truth. I’ve coached outdoor for twenty-three years and it was actually a tougher transition to deal with, and coach, guys packed into an arena. Knowing how to use the boards and field was the toughest transition so this really isn’t that big of a transition for me.

Where would you like to see St. Catharine’s end up this season and what do you see for the future?

Well it’s a little too early to be setting goals. But the first thing is to get a good strong recruiting class in here. After that the next step would be to get the team to buy into the system and philosophy. I’m not too worried about setting goals really early until these things happen but as far as the future goes there are some definite goals. What I would like to see for the future is competing in the conference and eventually winning the conference championship.
