BUDWEISER PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Louisville Lightning Player of the Week
Nick Judah

This week’s player of the week sponsored by Budweiser is Nick Judah. He is a Forward for the Lightning from Louisville, Kentucky. Nick is a licensed realtor serving as a sales associate for the Judah Real Estate Group. Nick is the son of Michael and Sally Judah, and also has a younger sister, Ali, who is a decorated equestrian and currently a sophomore at Centre College. Judah played for United Soccer club and the Javanon Soccer club where he was a part of 5 state championships and two regional semifinal appearances.

Scott Budnick says of Judah, "Nick is a gifted athlete and a handful for any defensive unit.  Like several of our players, Nick had a great game this past week against Detroit.  It is imperative that our team get strong play from its target players -  whether by holding off defenders and maintaining possession for us up top, and/or by taking players on and converting their chances.  Nick was fun to watch on Friday and is beginning to really develop as a target player.  He also continues to spearhead our ’power down’ team which has performed well all season long."

A few questions Nick considered and for fans to get to know him a little more…..

How was your experience different from Centre College then the Lightning?

At Centre I always had to juggle my time and worry about academics because we all know they come first in college as a student-athlete. Also everyone in college is the best or they would not have been recruited and the competition is good. As for the Lightning the fans are so supportive and it feels great to have their support on our side. I love the fact that I can play in my hometown.”

What is your favorite part about playing for the Lightning?

For me playing in front of our fans is unbelievable and the atmosphere is amazing. At first I had to get used to all the people that attended games, but now I am able to go out there and play my game.

What is some advice that you would give college players looking to play professional soccer?

I would tell them to continue to play hard, maintain and practice their skills everyday, and treat your sport like it’s your job.

Do you have any pre-game superstitions?

I love to listen to rap music before I play a soccer game. It gets me pumped up and focused for the game.

As we know you majored in History as well as Spanish, how do you plan on using your Spanish speaking skills?

I currently work in real estate and construction. It helps me deal with Spanish speaking clients and coworkers throughout the area.

Do you have any nicknames?

One particular nickname is Judah, by my last name. But, ever since I have started playing with the Lightning, Safet Kovacevic has called me Judge Judah and Judgment which makes everyone laugh.

As being from Louisville, how does it feel playing home games at Mockingbird?

It feels great to play in front of my hometown. I wouldn’t have pursued any other city to play professional soccer than Louisville. Having the PASL come to Louisville is a dream come true.

Who is your biggest fan?

My parents and my cousin Jeremy who also played soccer.
