Getting to know David...
Pregame Superstition: I don’t belive in superstitions, but I do conduct a thorough pregame routine of relaxation and visualization.
What is your favorite move on the field: one touch passes
Favorite pre-game meal: bananas, a power bar, and Gatorade
What is your most memorable soccer moment: I have several: Winning my first state championship with the U-10 Mighty Falcons in PKs, Winning the state championship with Saint X my senior year, Beating #1 team in the nation Trinity University while a junior at Centre, and signing my first professional contract with the Cincinnati Kings. But being a part of the Louisville Lightning is the most memorable moment in the making.
Who was your favorite coach and why? John Wooden, because he’s an exceptional leader with a brilliant philosophy on life and coaching. Aside from him, it's my Dad, senior Horne.
What would you recommend to young players who want to become a professional athlete?: I would recommend not making it your primary goal to become a professional athlete, because you don’t have a whole lot of control over that goal. Instead, I would recommend striving to become the best at which you are capable. Striving to achieve your potential is something that you have complete control over, and if that translates into the talent and opportunity to become a professional athlete, then definitely go for it.
Best part about being a professional athlete: The mental and physical challenge of the game at the highest level, and the opportunity to be a part of something greater than yourself.
Favorite music group/artist: Tom Petty
Favorite movie: Rudy
Hobbies & Interests: Spending time with family and friends and the Louisville Lightning are about all I have time for right now.
A “funny human trick” you can do: I have a strange whistle
Someone you would like to meet: John Wooden
Favorite quote: "There are only two ways to live your life - one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle." -Albert Einstein
Where is your favorite vacation spot?: London, England
Biggest thrill in soccer: I’d say the most memorable moments sum it up, but I’m hoping the inaugural season of the Louisville Lightning will be the best yet!
