ABOUT THE LIGHTNING INTERNSHIP PROGRAM:
The Louisville Lightning Internship Program began prior to the inaugural Lightning season in September of 2009. Achieving phenomenal success during year one, the program enlisted nearly 50 interns from a variety of universities and professions, including University of Louisville, Southern Indiana University, University of Kentucky, Southern New Hampshire University, Brandeis University, and University of Dayton. Catching the eye of many local sport organizations, the program has been cited by others in Kentuckiana as a high quality opportunity for young professionals and students looking to make an impact on their career.
The Lightning internship curriculum provides a professional experience for college students and community members looking to advance their career. Interns enjoy a hands-on opportunity to build their work experience and learn the behind-the-scenes operations that go into development of a new professional sport franchise. Over the course of a semester, a season, or off-season accepted applicants participate in a series of events and programs exposing them to the many facets of the sport industry.
While interns will participate in a wide variety of activities, specific roles are assigned within the organization based on need and qualification. Placement within the internship program is also based on applicant interest, experience, and academic achievement. All positions are located at the Lightning Office in Louisville, Kentucky.
